Planning Board Minutes, April 10, 2012

TOWN OF SEDGWICK

PLANNING BOARD

April 10, 2012

Planning Board members present:  Michael Rossney, Sylvia Wardwell, Secretary, Peter Neill, Peter Atherton, Steve Astbury.

Also present:  Fred Marston, Charlie Wiggins, Selectmen Victor Smith, Colby Pert, Neil Davis, Reporters Jon and Jane Thomas, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant to the Selectmen Barbara Grindle.

1)         The new members of the Board were introduced by Acting Chairman Victor Smith.  Term lengths were check and confirmed.  Neill asked if there were any classes for planning board members and if they were required for new members.  Courses are given several times a year by MMA and a class was held last month.  We will look into when the next class is to be held.  Classes are not required, but are extremely beneficial.

2)         Rossney moved and Atherton seconded to have Smith continue to act as chairman until John Allen was asked  if he would take the position.  Rossney declined and Neill declared he was only 4 minutes a member so he was too new to do the job at this time.  The board voted unanimously for Smith to continue.

3)         CEO reports:  The new contact person for Grain Company is Stacy Mathis.  The cell tower on Caterpillar Hill will have equipment for the Coast Guard to locate emergency and non emergency calls and will also have space for cell phone companies to hook on.

Bill Grant has taken an application for another possible boat shed.

The selectmen want to update several ordinances.  The planning board will assist and review the changes.  The town will have to approve any changes at a special town meeting.  They would like to start with a telecommunications ordinance.

The current permits need updating as well.  Suggestions of necessary information is welcomed.

The selectmen welcomed the new members of the planning board and offered help with any questions that might come up.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 pm.

Barbara Grindle, Assistant to the Selectmen
