Selectmen’s Meeting

October 30, 2007

Tuesday  3:30PM   

Selectmen present:  Chairman Nelson Grindal, Bill Jagger and Tom O'Connor. Other participants:  School Superintendent, Bob Webster, Selectman’s assistant Barbara Grindle, and assessor’s agent Matthew Caldwell. 

  1. Approved the minutes of the October 25, 2007 selectman’s meeting.

 

  1. Superintendent Webster presented details of the new state mandated school budget process.  The 2008 budget process will require a two part process involving the traditional vote at the town meeting followed by a separate ballot vote with in ten days from the town meeting.  The new process will require additional expenses to the tax payer.   Selectmen inquired as to what the folks in Augusta, who passed this law were thinking?  

 

  1. Selectmen signed 14 abetments which were prepared by Mr. Caldwell, which will rectify tax billing errors.  Mr. Caldwell reports that he has addressed all of the reevaluation disputed tax bills.

 The meeting was adjourned at 5:25PM
