TOWN OF SEDGWICK
SELECTMEN’S MEETING
March 7, 2019

Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present: Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Bob Publicover, Michael Sheahan. Also present: CEO Frank Tracy, Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, Tax Collector Elizabeth Gray, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

There being no errors or omissions in the records of the last meeting, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to approve them as written.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $163,438.61; education $91,625.58, snow salt $1,588.72 Webb Excavation $29,725.71, clearing:M/V $1,947.25, I/F $561, H/F $68, A/W $58, transfer station $26,367.50, general assistance $451.86, fees $140, fire protection $1,459.94, administration ballot clerks $625, salaries $7,733.36, misc. expenses $432.30, FICA taxes $653.39.

NEW BUSINESS: Nominated Michael Sheahan as chairman for the ensuing year. Moved, seconded and voted to elect Michael Sheahan as chairman of the select board for the ensuing year.
Discussed a letter from the tax collector with her. A meeting will be held with the auditors to try to work on ways to make the audit easier for the auditor, treasurer and tax collector. Perhaps a cash receipt program from TRIO would be faster and less time consuming for the tax collector. She will check on the price of the program. She is nearly caught up with the taxes. Selectmen recommended, seconded and voted to get a new printer for motor vehicle receipts, not to exceed $100, Selectmen would like to talk with the assessing agent when he comes on March 27th, regarding town revaluation possibilities.

OLD BUSINESS: Astbury will represent the selectmen of Sedgwick and will call a member of the public to serve with him on the Sedgwick/Brooksville/Brooklin solid waste committee (SBBSWC).
Sheahan will continue following the marijuana legislation and Publicover will continue with the broadband committee.
Approved having S.J. Rollins back up the assistant’s computer with the others in the office.
Animal Control officer will have a report to post on the town website. Treasurer compared the charges for animals going to the Small Animal Clinic (SAC) vs the SPCA and found that the SAC is less expensive and we have a contract with them to take any animals that need boarding.
Approved Eric Sass’ appointment to the Marine Resources Committee 3-0. Desmond Ashman was elected chairman of the committee at their meeting Thursday, Mar. 7.

CEO REPORT: Spoke with the attorney regarding the shoreland zoning issue. CEO will write up a contract to be approved by the attorney and the selectmen. Selectmen will have the final approval of any contract.
