TOWN OF SEDGWICK

SELECTMEN’S MEETING

July 31, 2014

 

            Opened the meeting and established a quorum.  Selectmen present:  Nelson Grindal, Victor Smith.  Also present:  John Dunbar and Dennis DeSilvey from the Harbor Committee, Robert Jones, Joseph Eaton, Pam Spencer, CEO Duane Ford, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

 

            Read and approved the minutes of the last meeting.

 

            Signed the treasurer’s warrant for $3,085.84; Fire dept. expenses of $485 and administration expenses of $155.54 combined with motor vehicle and collector fees for the total.

 

            The treasurer was given permission to sign and distribute payroll checks this year by a 2-0 vote by the selectmen. 

            The tax collector had two abatements to be signed and two properties that needed discussion:  one owned by the town and one unknown owner.

            Signed two quit claims for paid-up liens.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  GA public hearing Aug. 14, 6:30 pm at the office.

            Robert Starkey to join the public access committee for the Aug. 12 meeting.

           

NEW BUSINESS:  State Aid road paperwork done.

            More discussion on foreclosed property.  Treasurer to check with MMA again on whether to contract with taxpayers or not.  One lawyer says yes, another says no.

            Received Nicole Gray’s resignation from the planning board and appointed Robert Jones to take her place.

            Dunbar and DeSilvey discussed several items with the selectmen.  The Harbor Committee will be meeting Thursday, Aug. 7.

            There will be no meeting next week. Clerk will post notices.

 

CEO REPORT:   Reported that the cell tower bond has been cancelled, a new one will be sent.

            John Heppe received and paid for a permit for stairs to the shore.

            Bill Buckley received and paid for a permit for shoreland landscaping.

            Tom Boardman received permission to take down a hazard tree, but it must be replaced with another tree.

 

ADJOURN:  There being no further business, it was moved, seconded and voted to adjourn at 7:40 pm.  Reminder:  There will be no selectmen’s meeting the week of Aug. 7.
