SELECTMEN’S MEETING

September 21, 2023

 

Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Ben Astbury, Susan Ford, Colby Pert.  Also present:  Assistant Barbara Grindle, CEO Duane Ford, Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, Michael Sheahan, Allen Kratz.

 

Moved, seconded and voted to approve the minutes of the last meeting as amended.

 

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $160,793.53:  education $146,865.35; clearing/mv $5,365.26; comp. plan $3,500.

 

CEO REPORT: 1. Email correspondence from Thomas Energy regarding interior plumbing on 502 Reach Rd;  2. call from Germany regarding a bedroom addition on a Reach Road property, will be checking the septic design, and they will need a building notification form before starting the addition;  3. discussed DEP representatives with a Blue Hill CEO, they are having the same problems that we are – DEP is short staffed and may not be following up on violations; 4.  Call from plumbers about interior plumbing on Covenant Way, will check with site leader; 5. still waiting for call from town attorney.

 

Kratz and Sheahan updated selectmen on the Maine Community Action Grant.  We have been approved for the insulation of the town office basement, heat pumps for both fire stations and one for the town office.  Selectmen moved, seconded and voted to sign the papers involving the grant and delivered them to Kratz.

 

DISCUSSION and/or ACTION ITEMS:  1)  Budget startup for ’24, ’25 –  Discussed portions of the budget and assistant’s time frame for cutting hours.

 

UNRESOLVED BUSINESS:  Audit- to be delivered to the auditor by mid October from tax collector and treasurer.

Compusult – updated gmail, suggest a larger monitor for assistant ($230), and a standing desk and another monitor for tax collector (desk $167).

Looking for potential members for the Budget Committee and Appeals Board.

Tax bill for Map 5, Lot 51 from 2002 until 2010 when it was taken off the books is $1,096.88.

Andrew McCullough will contact someone for an estimate for the beaver bridge on Old County Rd.

Moved, seconded and voted to send ordinances to town attorney to see if there are parts that could affect land sales.
