SELECTMEN’S MEETING

November 3, 2022

 

Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Ben Astbury, Colby Pert, Michael Sheahan.  Also present:  Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, Assistant Barbara Grindle (by phone CEO Duane Ford, Jerry Wetterskog).

 

There being one change in the minutes of October 20, and another change in the minutes of October 27, moved, seconded, and voted 3-0 to approve the minutes of both weeks as amended.

 

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $107,461.98:  public service agency donations $49118.28; administration $8,506.29; fees $193; Walker Pond Access $2,333.34; snow $42,816.17; clearing: m/v $2,095.23; clearing: i/f $960; clearing: h/f $52; clearing: animal welfare $46; fire protection $666.67.

 

CEO REPORT: Caterpillar Hill resident had concerns about his septic system, effluent was building in a hole dug by the adjacent abutter; a new septic system needs to be installed, they have retained a soil evaluator to design a new septic system; visited Walker Pond properties, one has solar panels in place and a new foundation poured above the 250 ft line, the camp is getting repairs, and the outhouse has been removed; viewed the property on Cooper Farm Rd and the slab for a garage/shop and it also seems to be above the 250 ft mark, still needs replanting; also viewed the abutting property on Cooper Farm Rd, their new foundation has been poured and it is straddling the 250 ft line into the woods;

Checked plumbing and addition on Caterpillar Hill, foundation being poured on Reach Rd, building notification form for a Reach Road house and received notification that Sedgwick Storage business has been sold.

 

DISCUSSION ITEMS:  1)  Hales Hill Stream Crossing Grant Application –  Will receive the final application next week.  Will need matching funds totaling $81,050, half to Brooklin and half to Sedgwick.  If receive the grant, Sedgwick may commit $40,525 from ARPA funds.

2)  S. J. Rollins Access –  Conpusult has fixed the problem.

3)  Hales Hill Bridge Meeting –  Met with representatives and discussed what issues could be solved with a new wider and higher bridge.

4)  Unresolved Business – Signs are here for the Old County and Christy Hill Roads.  Waiting for the posts.  B)  Audit figures are getting to the auditors, will start the administrative budget in the next weeks.
