SELECTMEN’S MEETING
May 23, 2019

Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Bob Publicover, Michael Sheahan. Also present: Carla Magoon, Lynn Witham, Superintendent Chris Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Frank Tracy, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

There being one correction in the minutes of the last meeting, moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to accept the minutes as amended.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $8,309.19; administration $3,429.77, clearing $3,609.06, fees $128, mowing, town office, town house $225, town dock $120, sludge $240, Emera $358.94, fire department $198.34.

CEO REPORT: Visited the custom house to check about setting it back. It is only 60 feet from the shore and the prospective owner would like to put in a whole foundation. Cancelled his 478-7756 phone, town staff will field appointments, 359-2275.

DISCUSSION ITEMS: Cancelled executive session and discussed personnel matter in open meeting at the request of the individual.
Superintendent introduced Lynn Witham who is coordinating resources regarding possible adult education programs. She is forming a survey to see who and what people are interested in pursuing.
He also introduced Carla Magoon, interim principal and teacher for 4/5 grades at Sedgwick Elementary School.
Speed sign trailer: Astbury check into prices, will check with Northern Tool company as well, moved, seconded and voted to purchase a trailer for under $500 for the speed sign.
LED conversion with Emera: Emera is offering conversion as part of their maintenance program for the streetlights. It will be carried out as part of the maintenance until all lights are converted to LED.
Moved, seconded and voted to get on Emera’s list for changes to the LED lights.
Ferry Landing conversation: Had a good meeting with Blue Hill Heritage Trust and Inland Fisheries and several neighbors. All agreed that someone needs to fix the ramp as it is dangerous. It will be done as soon as funds allow.
General Assistance Notice: Sheahan got a google account with a phone number to be called in an emergency – 207-331-5447.
Town attorney lost letter sent by CEO. Found it in his spam folder.
Signed the contract with the paving company.
