SELECTMEN’S MEETING

April 27, 2023

 

Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Ben Astbury, Susan Ford, Colby Pert.  Also present:  Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

 

Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to approve the minutes of the last meeting as written.

 

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $86,225.64:  m/v overpay $113.24; general assistance $400; streetlights $138.97; snow $137.12; town house $18.25; town office $488.11; fire protection $224.97; sludge $120; education $81,215.73; clearing m/v $3,369.25.

 

CEO REPORT:  No. Sedgwick resident called about plumbing and septic work, she has the permits for an old septic tank, which is not being used and will be removed, asked if we knew of any underground/hazard lines that needed to be considered, getting new DOT permits; Brown property on Cooper Farm Lane regarding any new tree cutting, there has been none; Anderson home on Reach Road is pending sale, any known issues?; Strong Brewery got new DHHS form, inspection was done and form signed; resident on Gray’s Lane asked about regulations for subdividing her property with her children, sending an letter explaining the law; Allen on the Ridge Road asked about building notifications for a woodshed.

 

DISCUSSION ITEMS:  1)  Budget snapshot-administration:  Treasurer estimates that we will be close, but should be ok until June 30.

2)  DMV status:  Left message with DMV representative that tax collector has not been in and will catch up as soon as she is back.

3)  Deputy Tax Collector discussion:  An email from MMA confirmed that combining a deputy position with assistant’s position would not be a conflict.  Discussion on deputizing tax collector will wait until the tax collector returns.

4)  Unresolved Business:  a)  Pert discussed damage to vault with Andy Gray, who thinks that the roof is a cement slab resting on the walls of the structure, will consult with Andrew McCullough for an inspection and recommendation on repairing the bulging wall;  b)  Ford working on Fidium connecting to the town office phones, treasurer will find out how much we are paying now, Fidium monthly costs for three town buildings (Town House, Fire Dept. and Town Office) is $190.
