APPEALS BOARD

August 11, 2009

Board members present:  Chairman Palmer Little, Secretary Sylvia Wardwell, David Webb.  Others present:  CEO Duane Ford, Jon & Jane Thomas from the Weekly Packet, Robert L. Gray, Barbara Grindle, Assistant.

Map 7, Lot 3 –  Robert Gray has sent his application for a gas storage terminal to the Planning Board.  He was given a Site Plan Ordinance booklet and advised to refer to it when making out his formal application.  The one sent to the Planning Board was considered a sketch plan and pre-application.  DEP was concerned about the wetlands so he has moved his location up hill from the previous location.  The Planning Board walked the site last spring before it was  moved, so the Planning Board will need to walk it again. He has notified the abutting landowners, and will bring the certified mail receipts in to the next meeting.  He was referred to the Ordinance starting on page 11 and the Board went through some of the requirements with him.  He needs a letter from the fire chief, fees of $25 plus $10 for each 500 square foot.  The area for this propane gas storage facility will be fenced with enough room for tractor trailers to turn around.  There will be one 30,000 gas tank, one 18,000 tank, with room for another 30,000 gallon tank.  The design has been approved by Dale Hersey, compliance officer for the Propane & Natural Gas Board, Oil & Solid Fuel Board.  If the third tank is planned, Mr Hersey will need to do an additional inspection.  The Planning Board want a letter from his financing organization and are asking for the type and height of fencing to surround the facility.  He also needs a letter from the fire chief, appropriate fees, better maps and more detail on the formal plan. Once the formal plan is in public hearing will be discussed.

There being no further business before the board, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.

The vacancy created by the election of Victor Smith to Selectman still needs to be filled.  The Selectmen are asking for volunteers to fill several vacancies.  If you are interested in helping, please call the Town Office at 359-2275 or email at sedgwick@sedgwickmaine.org.
