June 26, 2014

OLD BUSINESS:  Town Dock – Dennis DeSilvey to sign the application for the grant.

Set the mil rate for 2014-15 taxes at .010325.  The current rate is .01025.

Town House parking lot trees have been taken down and removed, road commissioner will get the stumps out and extend the lot as soon as possible.  There will be a reception for the Historical Society’s photo exhibit on Tuesday, July 1.  The exhibit will last through the month of July, with other programs during July and August.

NEW BUSINESS:         Smith signed the papers for Tasha’s restaurant and mini-golf establishment.

Assistant Grindle, in her position as secretary of the Historical Society, asked the selectmen if they would consider the First Baptist Church parsonage as part of the non-profit Society property, making it tax exempt.  The church and parsonage are part of the Society, but the parsonage had been rented and is now empty.  It is currently for sale and, when sold, will be back on the tax rolls. The selectmen agreed that if it is rented or sold it would be taxed, until that time, it will be exempt.

Assistant Grindle also asked permission to store a map of the original town plots in the vault.  Permission was given.

Rumors that trout other than the brown trout would be stocked in Walker Pond were incorrect.  The only trout to be stocked is the brown trout.  The Mill Pond, another access point, is said to be full of trout.  When paperwork is completed for the access, that pond will be stocked if needed.

Selectmen will meet Tuesday, July 1 at 6 pm instead of Thursday, July 3 because of the holiday.
