SELECTMEN’S MEETING

June 18, 2015

 

            Opened the meeting and established a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Ben Astbury, Neil Davis, Nelson Grindal.  Also present:  CEO Duane Ford, Tax Collector Pat Gross, Road Commissioner Paul Carter, Packet reporter Anne Berleant, Robert Jones, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

 

            Entered executive session to hear a general assistance request at 6:06 pm.  Advised applicants that there is no funding for the nature of their request.  Suggested some alternative ways to fill the request.  Closed the executive session at 6:23 pm and returned to the regular meeting.

 

Read and approved the minutes of the last meeting.

 

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $3,063.84.  USPS for $620 for stamped envelopes, $56.30 for street signs, and $66.18 for town office repairs.

 

Collector, clerk, treasurer business:  Assessing agent will be here soon to get figures together for the tax commitment.

Insurance on Walker Pond will not cover the 12’ bridge.  Will cover equipment.  Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to accept coverage.

 

Old Business:  Carter discussed plowing contract.  Need to discuss changes with Webb.

 

 

New Business:  Assistant mentioned that the hearse house needs to be shingled and a threshold  repaired.  Selectmen will check funds availability.  Town owns the hearse house and the hearses.

Grindal to get separation partitions for the clerk and collector offices. Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to have him get the partitions.

Road Commissioner reported that tar for the Old County Road is going to cost $77 per ton.

 

CEO report:  Has photos of the landfill site and is working with the state DEP and soil and water people.  We will not sign off until they have inspected and approved the work.  The firewood has not been removed yet.

 

Adjourn:  There being no further business, it was moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn at 6:28 pm.
