SELECTMEN’S MEETING
October 5, 2023

Opened the meeting and established a quorum present.. Selectmen present: Ben Astbury, Susan Ford, Colby Pert. Also present: CEO Duane Ford, Fire Chief David Carter, Assistant Barbara Grindle, Greg Philips.

Read and corrected a spelling error on the minutes of the last meeting. Moved, seconded and voted to accept the minutes as amended.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $158,767.25: education $106, 483.21; clearing m/v $1,780.50, clearing h/f $8.; clearing i/f $382.50; RCC $751.25; sludge $60; general assistance $25.51; snow $37,500; administration 410,942.95; fire protection 833.33.

CEO REPORT: 1) Received a copy of the Smith survey at Black’s Pond and will send a reply; 2) Met with Jerry Wetterskog to go over the Shoreland Zone map for the Comprehensive Plan mapping; 3) Did a septic inspection on Reach Road; 4) Signed a Versant special easement for the Ashman family; 5) Will do an interior septic inspection Monday; 6) Keeping an eye on the Walker Pond activities and maintenance; 7) Updating building notification situations.

FIRE CHIEF REPORT: 1) The Maine Municipal inspection went well. 2) the roof needs shingling; 3) Looking at estimates from 4 companies for turnout gear, will make a decision soon, these will be funded by the grant; 4) the new rescue truck is in service, it’s larger than the other trucks but just fits in the station.

DISCUSSION and/or ACTION ITEMS: 1) Ergo desk request – Moved, seconded and voted to approve the request. The desk will cost $167.25.
2) Appointments – Board of Appeals, Budget Committee – Steve McFarland will serve on the Board of Appeals, replacing Fred Marston who passed away this summer. Robert Lawson will serve on the Budget Committee, replacing Susan Ford, who was elected First Selectman of the Town of Sedgwick.
Greg Philips gave select board copies of the agreement between him and Richard Carter for Map 5, lot 51. Asked if the town could forgive some of the interest and/or penalties. Total due from him for back taxes and fees is $1,196.88.

UNRESOLVED BUSINESS: Monday being a holiday, the office will be closed. Tax Collector will be in Thursday.
