CEO Report:

Duane gave his report the week: Paul Carter was called over to put in a septic for Adrian Smith.  Mr. Smith has had permits before, and Duane has been watching closely and won’t sign off until he does a walk through and thorough inspection. Duane received a call from Carrie Eaton regarding the Terry Pert property and her plan to clean it up. Lyndsey did let Duane know that the town own’s this property and that Ms. Eaton does know this. Duane will be meeting with Don Hale of Friends of Walker Pond, a week from Friday 5/23. Duane has been doing his daily check at the glampground- it’s been very quiet. Barry asked Duane if he knew what was going on at No Frills (Wardwell Oil) they’ve dug a large hole at the corner of the property. Duane will look into this. The town has received a few complaints regarding 81 Doe Circle, primarily regarding the smell from untreated waste. Duane did a quick drive by, and it appears that no one lives there.  The town is aware of and keeping an eye on the situation, since there were multiple complaints varying in severity this won’t be swept under the rug.

Discussion and/or Action Items:

  1. Unpaid taxes, liens- Barry checked in with Lyndsey on the status of the payment arrangements. Most are on track, and we seem to be receiving money routinely. 30-Day notices of impending liens have been sent out for unpaid 2024 taxes. With the new tax year approaching we are trying to keep on track.
  2. Audit- Lyndsey worked most of the day, through no fault of her own, on continued audit preparation including cash receipting and tracing transactions to the bank accounts. She and Amy will continue to work with Wadman’s office to hopefully wrap this audit up before the end of this fiscal year.
  3. Attorney- Lyndsey spoke with the attorney last week about “what’s next” regarding the possibility of an appeal from the public regarding the Campground approval from the planning board. Mr. Wagner has spoken with the opposing attorney and says now we are just playing the waiting game. Will report if and when we get further instruction. Also- Barry has been in contact with another firm- should there be need for appeal board guidance.

UNRESOLVED BUSINESS:

  1. Cemetery Flags- There have been many calls and messages this week form various parties regarding flags for veterans’ graves. We do have an account for Veterans’ graves, but unbeknownst to the board- additional money is being paid to people and cemetery associations for putting the flags out- There was some discussion of this and seem that most other towns have volunteers to do this. Cindy’s message to Lyndsey equated to $7 per flag and the board feels that its too short notice to take the money away this year but will revisit earlier next year. Motion and 2nd to approve paying $7.00 to the various people and associations for the placement of Veterans’ grave flags for Memorial Day. 3-0 approved.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

L. Lyman asked for clarification on which year was being audited- July 2023-June 2024.

ADJOURN:

Motion and 2nd to adjourn. 3-0 approved at 6:22pm

Respectfully Submitted,

Lyndsey Dow
