Sedgwick-Brooksville Town Landing Committee minutes, October 2019

Sedgwick-Brooksville Town Landing Committee

Minutes for October 10, 2019

Meeting opened at 5:45pm.   Adjourned at 6:31

  1. Members present: Michael Sheahan, Ben Astbury, John Gray, Hal Snow, Richard Bakeman.  Also present:  John Kimball, Ciona Ulbrich, Mike Burke, David Carter, Matt Dow, John Higgins

Actions Taken:

Motion to accept minutes of the September 12th meeting as written. All in favor.

Discussion:

Permit by rule extends three years for our plan for rock removal.  Also, raising the footbridge would not need a new permit.

Ben will call Ray McDonald about mowing and vegetation removal.

Courtesy boat inspection ends this weekend.  (10/13)

There’s a pot hole/sink hole that needs addressing.

Three beavers have been relocated so far.  We’ll continue to monitor the situation.

John Kimball:  There’s some erosion of the beach sand that should be addressed.  It would be better for both the beach and the pond.

Ben will call John Cullen about ideas to address the issue.

Report from Tom Schley:  Suggests another gangway for easier walk-in access next to the current gangway leading to the float.   Trash wasn’t an issue this year.  Doggie bags worked out, but cigarette butts are still a problem.  Need a first aid kit.   Has had some complaints about dogs not under control.  Had an overall positive experience this summer.

John Kimball called Billy Grant to remove the floats.

Ciona Ulbrich:  Presented plans for Mill Pond.  Needs to start permitting process soon.  Plan includes improvements to the fish passage, repairs to the dam, parking, and changes to the hydrant pipe and the ability for pumpers to pull off the roadway to fill.
