Selectmen’s Minutes, August 11, 2016

TOWN OF SEDGWICK
SELECTMEN’S MEETING
August 11, 2016

Opened the meeting and established a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Ben Astbury, Colby Pert.  Also present:  Christine DePretorio, Tax Collector Elizabeth Gray, Clerk/treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

Read and approved the minutes of the last meeting as written.  Voted 2-0 to accept the minutes as written.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $14,711.51; fire department bills $9,424.27, general assistance $198.47, sludge $900, road signs $26.40 and administration for $221.94 made up most of the warrant.

Town Dock grant:  Bids are due next Thursday (8/18/2016) and will be reviewed as soon after receipt as possible.  CEO has had a short discussion with the landowner of the ROW given to the town many years ago.  They will discuss more when time permits.  The owner would like to talk with the selectboard about keeping it as it is right now, not making a park of it.  He has been updated on plans for the dock.

The animal control issue discussed last week has been resolved with ownership given up and the animals available for adoption.  Astbury discussed back-up coverage with Sheriff Kane and he will get back to the town with information by the fall.

The state has offered a tabulator for the November elections.  Moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to accept the tabulator as long as there is no cost involved for the town.

DePretorio brought photos of the Carter Point public access taken in 2013 and taken in 2016 showing the condition of the access.  The shore is showing signs of erosion in many places and there needs to be something done before too long.  She is on the Public Access Committee and is concerned about erosion in some of the other accesses also.

Moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to allow the tax collector to purchase a protective cover for her working area.  Tax bills are ready and waiting for envelopes from the post office to be mailed.

CEO REPORT:  Discussed other properties with erosion issues on Carter Point. He is discussing projects with contractors, and owners of property in town and staying on top of many other different areas.

ADJOURN:  There being no further business, it was moved, seconded and voted 2-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7:17 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Ben Astbury, 3rd Selectman
