Selectmen’s Minutes., Thurs., Jan. 3, 2008

Town of Sedgwick Maine

Selectmen’s Meeting

Thursday  January 3, 2008  6:30PM

Selectmen present:  Nelson Grindal, Bill Jagger and Tom O'Connor. Other participants:  Selectman’s Assistant Barbara Grindle and Clerk/Treasurer Cindy Reilly.   Richard Goldsby and Barbara Osborn.

  1. Approved the minutes of the December 27, 2007 selectmen’s meeting.

There was no meeting on January 1.

  1. Reviewed and approved the Treasurers warrant (#27) in the amount of $31,156.57.

  1. Selectmen discussed the fact that with the snow plowing expenses paid in the current warrant, the snow plowing account is exhausted.  To date the town has had as much snow as the entire season last winter.  Selectmen will seek advice from the Maine Municipal Association to see if it is advisable to have a special town meeting now or consider it at the regular meeting in March.

  1. Selectmen signed a consent agreement with the Goldsby/Osborns concerning a shore land zoning violation.  The property owners agree to replant the area in question by November 2008 and pay a fine of $15,000 plus the legal fees that the town incurred during the settlement process.  Those fees were $1,097.  In return the town agrees not to pursue the matter in court.  Signing this document brings to a conclusion a lengthly process which was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM

Respectfully submitted,

Tom O'Connor  Selectman
