Selectmen’s Minutes, Public Hearing, October 13, 2016

TOWN OF SEDGWICK
SELECTMEN’S MEETING
October 13, 2016

Opened the meeting and established a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Ben Astbury, Neil Davis, Colby Pert.  Also present:  Bob Publicover, Superintendent Chris Elkington, School Board Chair Susan Ford, CEO Duane Ford, Clerk/Treasurer Cindy Reilly, Tax Collector Elizabeth Gray, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to dispense with the reading of the minutes of last week’s meeting and approve the minutes as written.

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $69,631.86; school expenses $65,920.39, administrative expenses of $128.37, general assistance of $1093.10, and town records $700.

OLD BUSINESS:  Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to sign the contract for 300 tons of salt for the 2016-2017 winter season.  All salt ordered to be deducted from the contract with Webb Excavation.

School update:  Supt. Elkington and Chairman Ford in to discuss plowing issues.  They have several bidders now and will select a contractor.  Also discussed some maintenance and communication issues.

Gave FEMA paperwork to CEO regarding a property in the flood zone.  He will report back next week.

Clerk Reilly gave assistant some plumbing paperwork that had been found in the Brooklin town office and sent on.  Assistant will take care of it.

CEO REPORT: Keeping busy with issues regarding several projects, including newly built residences in town.  Attending training seminars, doing a great deal of planning and paperwork.

The Planning Board did not have a quorum this month so no work was done.

RECESS FOR PUBLIC HEARING:  Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to recess for the public hearing on the general assistance appendices at 7 p.m.

Return from public hearing at 7:17 p.m.  Voted 3-0 in favor of adopting the appendices for 2016-2017 for the general assistance program.

ADJOURN:  There being no further business, it was moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m.

PUBLIC HEARING FOR GENERAL ASSISTANCE
OCTOBER 13, 2016  7 P.M.

Opened the public hearing at 7:10 p.m. for general assistance for 2016-2017. After review, all in attendance voted unanimously to adopt the 2016-17 appendices.  The appendices, A-D, set new figures for general assistance applications.

Five people were in attendance for the hearing.

Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to adjourn the public hearing and return to the recessed selectmen’s meeting at 7:15 p.m.
