TOWN OF SEDGWICK

SELECTMEN’S MEETING

February 25, 2016

 

Opened the meeting and declared a quorum present.  Selectmen present:  Ben Astbury, Neil Davis, Nelson Grindal.  Also present:  Robert Jones, Rhoda Astbury, Tax Collector Belinda Rooney, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, CEO Duane Ford, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

 

Moved, seconded and voted 3-0 to accept the minutes of the last meeting.

 

Reviewed and signed the treasurer’s warrant for $37,598.01; $26,367.50 for first quarter payment to the transfer station, winter road salt $4,129.87, auditor of town books $5,015.75, town records $214.10.

 

OLD BUSINESS:  Grindal reported that the permits for the town dock work have been submitted by the engineer.  Jenn Paul, from the SHIP grant, has been updated on the status of the project.  The Permit by Rule from the DEP was received and will be added to the active file.

Received a Homestead Exemption application and placed it in the assessor’s basket.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  Assistant has been audited for the general assistance program. The auditor will return in the spring to review the results of the audit.

Selectmen signed the tax collector transfer paperwork.  Present tax collector (Rooney) did not run for re-election, deputy (Reilly) will supervise newly elected tax collector according to law.  New collector will be attending classes almost immediately, but both candidates have been training with Rooney.

 

CEO REPORT:  Reviewing ordinances, chasing new projects, following up on new changes to laws and rules.  Also explained some of the differences between the new, boilerplate, floodplain ordinance and the current one.  The new ordinance will be voted on at town meeting this weekend.

 

ADJOURN:  There being no further business, it was moved, seconded, and voted 3-0 to adjourn the meeting at 6:43 pm.

 

Opened the Public Hearing for the floodplain ordinance at 7 pm and there were no members of the public present.  Closed the public hearing for the floodplain ordinance at 7:05 pm.  Copies of the ordinance are available at the Town Office.
