Sedgwick Elementary School Newsletter November 3, 2011 Picture Retake Day Monday, November 7 Kelly Saunders will be taking photos of new students, those students absent on school photo day andphotos that need to be retaken. Also, if you did not order photos inSeptember, this is another opportunityto do so. Please contact Mrs. Grindle ASAP if you plan to have your child's photo taken or retaken on Monday. PTF Meeting There will be a PTF meeting on Thursday, November 10 at 6:00 p.m. On the agenda will be a review of the budget process, upcoming calendar events, playground and other items. All are encouraged to attend. Game Night There will be a Game Night on Wednesday, November 9 from 3-4 PM for students in grades K-4. Permission slips will be sent home. Soccer Awards The 2011 soccer season ended this week. A soccer pizza party and awards will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at 5:30 p.m. in the gym. Afterschool Study Hall There will be no afterschool study halls scheduled between now and Thanksgiving. Grill for Sale The school has a large charcoal grill for sale at the incredible price of $30. It is available for inspection by the school’s sheds or see Dr. Buckingham. What a deal! Benefit Supper There will be a benefit supper for Nancy Gale on Saturday, November 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the Sedgwick School’s gym. Casseroles, baked beans and a variety of desserts will be served. Family FEED Night Mark your calendar -- our first ‘Family FEED Night’ dinner and movies will be held on December 9. A free meal and movies is available to one and all. Let’s make this the best Family FEED Night ever by creating some potluck delights to go with the soup and bread that will be available. November 11 - Veterans' Day November 23 - Vacation Day November 24 - Thanksgiving Day November 25 - Vacation Day Christmas Angels The Blue Hill Congregational Church’s annual Christmas Angels program provides gifts of clothing for children in need on the Peninsula and Deer Isle & Stonington. (snow date: 11/20 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) There are still applications available to reserve a table. Contact Mrs. Grindle at the school for a form or for more info. Raffle tickets are also still available for $450 worth of home heating oil and for a $200 gas card. Tickets cost 1 for $1.00 or 6 for $5.00. Contact Mrs. Grindle at the school. All proceeds raised from both raffles will support the school’s technology program. The Great Race Morgan Dauk led a field of 31 student qualifiers to win the Great Pumpkin Race on Tuesday. The top six finishers were: Morgan Dauk (gr. 8), Reece Dannenberg (gr. 5), Olivia Brown (gr. 6), Dr. B. and Sam Allen (gr. 8) who tied and Nathan Dauk (gr. 3). All runners did a fantastic job in the third annual “Great Race”. Thank you Mr. Carter for organizing this event once again.
