Sedgwick School Community Newsletter January 17, 2008 Great Work from Students There’s been some great work from Alexis Tozier, Logan Rideout, Reece Dannenberg, and Troy Daggett Parent /Teacher Conferences As we did last year, the mid-year parent/teacher conferences will be scheduled with the teachers directly. Teachers will meet with parents outside the regular school day at a time that is mutuallyconvenient. These conferences are excellent ways to check in at the midpoint of the year to see how things are going and make whatever changes need to be made. School Committee Openings Two open spots willneed to be filled. TIME IS SHORT to completeand return nomination papers! If you would beinterested in serving, nominating petitions are available from Cindy Reilly at the Sedgwick Town Office located in the village. Sign In Procedure Parents who drop off children to school late need to remember to sign them in at the office. Don’t just drop them off in front of the building. Please come inside to let us know they’re here. Thanks! Monday, January 21 - No School Day! There will be no school this coming Monday due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day observance. Jennifer Gray has been working very hard to get paid business ads in the yearbook to help lower the cost. Currently, they will cost about $7.00 each. However, the more paid ads we have, the lower the cost will drop. There is still room for ads if you have a business (or know of a business) that would purchase an ad. Contact Mrs. Grindle at 359-5002 no later than January 31. Also, if you have pictures you would like to see in the yearbook, send them into the school in an envelope with Jennifer’s name on it. If you have pictures in digital format, Jennifer will print them out for you. All pictures need to be in by March 1. A-Teams Basketball Tournament Mark your calendars now! February7 and 9, the A Coastal LeagueBasketball Tournament will be held at George Stevens Academy. A schedule of tournament times will be announced. There is no B Team Tournament this year. T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, and Hats The PTF is again raising money by selling t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats with the school logo on them. Order forms went home last week. If youmissed it or have already misplaced yours, order sheets are available in the school office. The deadline date for all orders, with payment, is Friday, January 25. Girl Scout Cookies Girl Scout cookies are on sale from local girl scouts. If you can’t find one, let us know and we’ll track one down for you. Dress for the Weather Although we don’t go outside for recess when the temperatures dip as low as they did earlier this week, kids still need to be dressed properly to wait for their morning bus and be prepared in case they need to be outside. Please check to make sure your kids are properly dressed for outside weather. Thanks Many thanks to volunteers Chris Nelson, Sarah Desilvey , JenniferGray, Gretchen Cousins, and Linda Long.
