Sedgwick Elementary School Newsletter April Vacation Week April 18 - 22 BEAR Night - April 29 A form to sign up for BEAR Night was sent home twice this week. Because it is right around the corner, we need those forms back as soon as possible. Please remember that if your child is coming to BEAR Night, you need to contribute in some way. We especially need parents who can spend the night and/or help with small groups until 9:00 or 10:00 PM. School Improvement Team The School Improvement Team met on Monday night to discuss draft school goals for the 2011-12 school year. The discussion around goals are very important as we look to the future. In the next year we will make significant changes in our staff, our classroom configurations, and in the way we teach and run our school. We want you to be a part of that discussion. School Improvement Team meetings are scheduled for the first Monday of each month from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and anyone can attend. Our school must improve and we will with your help. Here’s a Way to Help We are looking for a parent to take part in the hiring and interview committee for the new kindergarten teacher. We will probably interview shortly after April break. If you’re interested in helping out with the process of interviewing candidates, please call 359-5002. April 7, 2011 www.sedgwickschool.net Winnie the Worm Farmer Yesterday, Carol Brendler, the author of Winnie the Worm Farmer was here to show students a worm farm that traveled all the way from my hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Students heard her presentation then worked on a variety of activities related to vermiculture. Thank you Mrs. Bixby for making this ‘Author’s Afternoon’ possible.
