Sedgwick School Community Newsletter April 10, 2008 Tomorrow’s dress theme is Western. School Vacation April 21 - April 25 Enjoy this time with your family! No Newsletter Next Week. Great Work John McKechnie, Jed Siebert, and Luke Carter have been helping out with the second life of the boat building program. Last year, the first dory, the Miss Marta, was launched among much hoopla at the Town Dock. This year, almost 30 kids have signed up to help construct a sister ship and handmade oars. This is an excellent way for our students to learn not only about their heritage, but also about current boat building techniques and, most importantly, have fun! Electronics Just a reminder to parents that electronics such as MP3 players, iPods, CD players and the like are best left at home. These devices are usually expensive, easily broken and create disruptions and temptations at school. If students MUST have them for the bus, they may. However, they are not to be seen at any point during the school day. Cell phones, too, are a disruption. We understand the need for some students to have these, but like music devices, they must be left in lockers and out of sight during the school day. This rule also applies to non-functioning cell phones that students may be using as toys. The school cannot acceptresponsibility for lost, stolen or damaged electronic devices. Fun Fridays -- Western So, cowboys and cowgirls rustle up some duds and come on over. However, please leave the guns, ropes, and livestock at home. After School Program If you have a great idea for an after school program for kids, we have some grant money to help out. We have a number of kids interested but not enough people to run programs. Let Dr. Buckingham know if there is an activity you want to provide for the kids and he’ll help organize it.
