Selectmen’s Minutes, January 20, 2011

 TOWN OF SEDGWICKSELECTMEN’S MEETINGJanuary 20, 2011             Selectmen present:  Nelson Grindal, Colby Pert, Victor Smith             Also present:  Road Commissioner Paul Carter, Treasurer Cindy Reilly, Tax Collector Belinda Pert, Reporter Bette Britt, Michael Rossney, Michele Levesque, Clare Grindal, Superintendent Robert Webster, Rich Boulet, Mia Strong, Richard Greenfield, Budget committee members Sean O’Rahley, Horace Wardwell, Bob Vaughn, Geoff Miller.             1)         Minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted. 2)         Signed the Treasurer’s Warrant for $80,002.20; school expenses were $67,448.66. 3)         The Road Commissioner was asking about the distribution of winter salt to Brooklin and expressed dissatisfaction with the way the roads are being plowed and sanded.  4)         Mr. Boulet, representing the Blue Hill Library, was in to discuss funding for the library.  There was much discussion on too much money for the Blue Hill Library, and the desire to save some money for a future Sedgwick Library.  He remarked that he has been asked by the  library directors to get a petition started to get the full amount that they have asked for ($3,600). 5)         The Superintendent and the two members of the School Board (Levesque, Grindal) members brought in and explained the new school budget to the budget committee members and the selectmen.  O’Rahley questioned the superintendent on the correlation between homework and the tests given by the state.             6)         Bob Vaughn and Geoff Miller were in asking for more money for the Peninsula Ambulance and explaining why they needed so much more than they had asked for last year. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm.                                                 Victor Smith, 3rd Selectman
