TOWN OF SEDGWICK

SELECTMEN’S MEETING

February 6, 2014

Opened the meeting and established a quorum.  Selectmen present:  Neil Davis, Nelson Grindal, Victor Smith.  Also present:  Reporter Bette Britt, Ed Schneider, CEO Duane Ford, Budget chairman Steve Tobey, Robert Jones, Assistant Barbara Grindle.

Read and approved the minutes of the last meeting.

Signed the treasurer’s warrant for $80,384.0;  school expenses were $59,995.12, salt for $1,911.44, computer contract with S.J. Rollins for $6,399, monthly salaries of $4,399.99.

The public (Mr. Schneider) asked about the raises for the selectmen and it was explained to him that the selectmen are sharing the duties equally and felt that they should have equal pay, with the chairman of the board getting an extra $1,000.  Currently the 1st selectman gets $8,000 and each of the others gets $4,000 per year.

OLD BUSINESS:  Town Dock: Grindal will call Andrew McCullough to view the dock, and a no trespassing sign will be put at the end of the dock until work can be decided on and done.

Ordinance changes:  selectmen to review language before entering in the town warrant.

Town Report:  Work is continuing for a print date of Monday the 10th.  Voted 3 to 0 to have voting hours Friday, March 7 from 1 – 6 pm, Davis to take care of the fire and get more wood if necessary.  Reviewed the budget with budget committee and decided to remove the tax collector’s raise in hours and salary out of the warrant (vote 2-1 Davis requesting that a conference with tax collector be held before removal, voted 3-0 in favor of conference with her).  Decided to raise assistant’s wages because of added responsibilities in concealed weapons and general assistance work.

NEW BUSINESS:  Discussed a separate account for permit fees to help cover CEO’s expenses – no decision made.

CEO REPORT:  Nothing new to report.  Hopefully new ordinance changes will raise the permit fees to reflect the value of the project being done.

There being no further business, it was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 pm.

                                    Victor Smith, 3rd selectman
