Planning Board Minutes, December 13, 2016

Planning Board Minutes
13 December 2016

Members present:  Robert Jones, Peter Neill, Patricia Egan.  For the purposes of a quorum, Patricia Egan’s status was changed temporarily.

Acceptance of the minutes was tabled until the next meeting.

No old business.

New business:  Duane Ford led a discussion of the new Shoreland Zoning Ordinance.  All agreed on the advisability of accepting the state’s Shoreland Zoning Ordinance with minor changes that benefit the town.  To that end, Barbara Grindle will post the state’s ordinance on the town website for study.  Changes from the former document will be highlighted.

The town may make changes resulting in stricter policies but cannot moderate those the state has decided on.  Duane explained the benefits for Sedgwick of cooperation with the state in forestry management and oversight of docks and piers by citing Deer Isle’s experience with trying to manage their forests by themselves.  Peter Neill made the motion to have the state document put up on the website with the recommendation that we accept the state’s changes and notification of this sent to the Packet.  We will discuss any thoughts we have or changes suggested by the Planning Board or townspeople at our January meeting.  Peter also added that the Planning Board should be pleased that Sedgwick now has five updated ordinances and a revised site plan review.

The meeting was then adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Patricia Colling Egan
