Sedgwick Elementary School Newsletter No School Dates Wednesday, November 23November 24 - Happy Thanksgiving! Friday, November 25 Winter Gym Use This time of year we get a lot of requests to use the gym for various activities from family nights to birthday parties to dinners. The school committee encourages community use of the building when it is not being used for school purposes. To find out more about how to sign up and schedule the gym, please call Dr. B at 359-5002. There is also a gym schedule posted in the gym’s entry way. PTF Meeting The PTF group met last Thursday. The meeting notes have been sent home in student communicators. Harvest Luncheon Instead of our traditional Thanksgiving luncheon this year, we’ll be celebrating our school wide theme of ‘The Harvest’ at a school-wide luncheon on November 30. The school will eat together, celebrate our regular volunteers, and each class will do a presentation related to their first trimester harvest topics. If you can help with the luncheon, please contact Margaret Bixby. Scholastic Book Fair Mrs. Bixby has scheduled a Scholastic Book Fair that will begin on Saturday, November 19, during the craft fair, and will also be open on November 21, 22, 28 and 29 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. November 17, 2011 Basketball Programs The boys and girls programs began this week with practices. Coaches Carl Dannenberg and Ruth Allen Gray are both hard at work and looking forward to a great 2011-2012 season. For practice dates/times refer to the schedule sent home with players. PeeWee Coach Peter Dauk had informational packets sent home with students in Grades 1-4. For further information, please call Peter at 359-6698. Sargentville Christmas Party The Sargentville Thursday Club has planned their annual holiday party for Friday, December 2. Invitations will be mailed to all Sedgwick children in Pre-K to grade 4 very soon. Holiday Craft Fair November 19 (snow date: 11/20 - 11:30-4:00) 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Sedgwick School Gym Last Chance for Raffle Tickets! $450 of home heating oil $200 gas card Tickets: 1 for $1 or 6 for $5 The winning tickets will be drawn at the craft fair! All proceeds raised support theschool's technology program. Family FEED Night Mark your calendar -- our first ‘Family FEED Night’ dinner and movies will be held on Friday, December 9. A free meal and movies are available to one and all. Let’s make this the best Family FEED Night ever by creating some scratch made potluck delights to go with the soup and bread that will be available. Call 359-5002 if you can help! Student Talent Show Everyone is invited to a Talent Show on November 22 at 1:30 p.m. in the gym. Students are working hard on their original acts. This is always a fun time for all. Winter Village Carnival The Blue Hill Chamber of Commerce has planned a wonderful winter carnival that will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 5:00 p.m. in front of the Blue Hill Town Hall. Admission will be free to all events. There will be music, food, photos with Santa, tree lighting and more. Stay tuned for more information........
