Sedgwick Elementary School Newsletter December 1, 2011 Parent Help NEEDED for PTF Movie Day There is still a need for parents to help out with the PTF Movie Day on December 10 from 8:30-11:30 here at the school. Lego Robotics Team to State Championship Next Saturday, December 10, our Lego Robotics Team will be taking part in the state championship competition at the Augusta Civic Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Team members are MacKenzie Carter, Daniel Fill, Samuel Allen, Maeghan Tobey, Katrin Cote, and Sheldon West under the excellent coaching of Megan and Luke Carter. Last year’s team, with many of the same participants, finished in first place in the project division. We all wish them the best of luck! It is a come and go as you please event, so even if you can only stay for a bit, the team can use your support. One of the ways they will be judged is ‘Team Spirit’, so come and give the team some spirit! PTF Meeting The December PTF meeting has been rescheduled to December 12th from 6-7 PM. Winter Concert Mark your calendar ~~ The school’s winter concert is on Tuesday, December 13 at 6:00 PM Funding Factory - Recycling Send in all your used ink cartridges and cell phones ASAP for recycling. The Funding Factory is doubling our points for all recycled items we send in to them prior to Christmas vacation!! School Counseling Brandi Corbin, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) is now available to help students and families with counseling needs here at the school. If your child would benefit from counseling, but you have not been able to arrange for services outside of school, this may work for you. Ms Corbin works with families to secure payment through Maine Care and families’ insurance companies. Ms. Corbin has worked in a similar way with students at Newport Elementary School and comes highly recommended. Please call 359-5002 for more information or for a referral form. Thursday Club Christmas Party - December 2 One of the nicest events of the year is TOMORROW night. The Sargentville Thursday Club’s annual Christmas party for Pre-K to grade 4 Sedgwick students. The party will start at 6:30 p.m. All students should have received an invitation in the mail. Little Caesars Fund Raiser All orders for Little Caesars’ pizza products, including payment, must be turned into the school no later than Monday, December 12th. If you need additional order forms, call 359-5002. All money raised will benefit the PTF account. For questions or information, contact Missy Varnum at 359-9808. Family FEED Night Don’t forget! Our first ‘Family FEED Night’ dinner & movies will be held on Friday, December 9 at 5:00 PM. This is free to one and all. Soup and bread will be served but other pot luck items are needed as well. We need people to help set up or clean up and also provide a pot luck item. Call 359-5002 if you can help! Game Night There is a Game Night tomorrow from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. for students in grades K-4. Parents must pick up their child(ren) by 4 PM. Winter Carnival Don’t forget! There is a Winter Carnival in the village of Blue Hill this evening. The fun will begin at 4:00 p.m. with children activities, live music at 5:00 p.m. and the evening will end at 6:00 p.m. with a tree lighting. All events will be free of charge.
